Ostend holiday apartment: stay in the Queen of Belgian seaside resorts

Ostend is known as the Queen of Belgian seaside resorts, and for good reason. Wide sandy beaches, a magnificent promenade (the Zeedijk), royal galleries, a working fish market and an art nouveau heritage. The city is small enough to walk anywhere, big enough to never run out of things to do. DLVX Rentals offers two holiday apartments in Ostend, run personally by the owner family. The Beachfront Skyline Retreat sits 16 floors up on the Zeedijk with sweeping North Sea views. The Sky Tower One is in the city centre, perfect for those who want to walk to dinner. Both sleep up to 4 guests, both have 2 bedrooms, and both are bookable directly with us, no Airbnb fees, no hidden costs. We live here. When you book with us you are talking to people who actually know which restaurant has the best North Sea sole, where to find the freshest grey shrimps and how to skip the queue at the carnival.

What to do in Ostend

The beach: 9 km of sandy beach for swimming, kitesurfing and walking. The Zeedijk: a 4 km promenade, perfect for cycling or a sunset walk. The Vismarkt (fish market): open daily, buy fresh North Sea fish straight off the boat. The Royal Galleries: a beautiful art nouveau gallery with restaurants and cafes. The Casino Kursaal: for those who fancy a flutter. The Mu.ZEE art museum: a brilliant collection of Belgian modern art including James Ensor. Food in Ostend is brilliant. Mussels in white wine, North Sea sole, oysters, grey shrimp croquettes (do not skip these), and Belgian frites with mayonnaise. Wash it down with a Trappist beer or a glass of crisp Belgian white. Most decent restaurants serve a 3 course lunch for 25 to 35 euros. The Coastal Tram (Kusttram) runs the full 67 km coast and stops right at the Zeedijk. Hop on for a day exploring De Haan, Knokke or De Panne. Day pass: 10 euros.
