A 48 hour Ostend itinerary
Friday evening. Eurostar from London St Pancras (depart 17:00-19:00) to Brussels Midi, change to a train to Ostend, arrive around 22:00. Self check-in via smart lock, a last drink on your balcony, sleep with the windows open and the sound of the sea. Saturday. Breakfast on the Zeedijk at one of the cafes, long walk on the beach (head east towards the harbour). Vismarkt at noon for oysters and a glass of crisp white wine. Lunch of mussels and chips on the Visserskaai. Afternoon at the Ensor museum or the casino, or just a long nap. Evening: fresh North Sea sole on the Visserskaai or a steak frites in the city centre. Sunday. Rent bikes (multiple shops in town, around 12 euros for the day), cycle to De Haan along the dunes, 45 minutes one way. Lunch at one of the De Haan beachfront cafes. Cycle back. Train from Ostend at 16:00, Eurostar from Brussels at 18:00, home in London by 20:00. Total cost for 2 people including the flat at 150 euros: roughly 700 to 900 euros for the weekend including travel.
