Friday evening: arrival and promenade walk

Check-in from 4 pm. After the busy week, the first thing you do is take off your shoes, pour a glass of wine and stand on the balcony. Then you walk 5 minutes to the Zeedijk. In the evening the buildings light up, the sea is calm, and the terraces along the boulevard are still open until 10 pm. Dinner at Bistro Mathilda for authentic Ostend cuisine, or Tabula Rasa for a more modern menu.

Saturday: fish market, beach and culture

Start the day at the fish market on the Visserskaai at 8 am. Fresh shrimp, sole, cod, everything directly from the Ostend trawlers. Breakfast in one of the cafes around the station, or a croissant on the balcony. Morning: walk on the Zeedijk towards De Haan, or a bike ride along the dunes. Lunch on the beach with fries and a Vermeersch coffee. Afternoon: visit the Mu.ZEE museum, or a boat tour in the harbour.

Sunday: brunch, beach and return

Sunday is rest day. Long brunch on the balcony, or an extensive breakfast at De Vagant. A last walk on the Zeedijk, one last time with your feet in the sand. Check-out at 11 am, and you are home around 2 pm if you live in Brussels, or around 5 pm if you come from Paris. 48 hours away from everything, and you come home with the salt sea air in your hair.
